Ruth J. Balzer
Ruth J.
Balzer, 91, of North Newton, passed away Thursday (July 10, 2008) at Newton
Medical Center in Newton.
She was born
July 27, 1916, in rural Elbing to Fred and Mary (Ingold) Mosiman. They preceded
her in death.
On June 21,
1942, she married Waldo I. Balzer at the Missionary Church in Elbing. He
survives of the home.
Ruth was a
homemaker and lived in rural Whitewater prior to their move to Kidron Bethel
Village in North Newton. She was an active and faithful member of Grace Hill
Mennonite Church in rural Whitewater.
Ruth enjoyed
spending time with her many friends and loving family, especially her five
grandchildren, Rachel, Joel, Katelyn, Shannon and Lauren; and one
great-grandchild, Emma.
Other
survivors include a son, Michael and Kathy Balzer of Whitewater; daughter,
Janet and Ray Franz of Hesston; brothers, Wilbur Mosiman and Freddie Mosiman;
sister, Wilma Jean Motter; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
She also was
preceded in death by a sister, Elsie Mosiman; a brother, Reuben Mosiman; and a
son, Larry Joe Balzer.
Visitation
will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Petersen Funeral Home in Newton, with family
receiving friends from 2 to 4 p.m.
Graveside
service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Grace Hill Cemetery in rural Whitewater,
followed by funeral service at 10:30 a.m. at Grace Hill Mennonite Church, with
Pastor Jim Voth of the church officiating.
Memorial
contributions may be made to the church in care of the funeral home.
