Sondra
Conerly
Sondra
Conerly, 69, went to be with the Lord on July 12, 2008, quietly in her home
after a short battle with cancer.
She will be
missed by her family and friends in a way no words can describe. Sondra loved
the Lord and was a constant encouragement to everyone who knew her. Her words
of wisdom, knowledge, kindness, sweetness and bravery will be deeply missed.
Sondra was
born Sept. 14, 1938, in Newton. She spent many years in Kansas, as well as
other parts of the world as an Air Force dependent.
Sondra
received her associates of arts degree from Victor Valley College in 1984. Her
career spanned more than 40 years in the education field in the Victor Valley.
She loved learning and assisting students. She worked for the Hesperia Unified
School District as an instructional assistant at the elementary level for many
years. She supported the educational programs for special education students, teaching
them to become better learners and to love learning. For the past 20 years,
Sondra taught her students in the special education programs at Victor Valley
High School. She had a genuine love for them and was creative in providing them
with strategies that supported their understanding of the materials they were
to learn. Sondra retired in 2006.
She is
survived by her mother, Delome Franks of Lake Havasu, Ariz. Her family also
includes her lifelong friend Carol Scissel; son, David Conerly, daughter-in-law,
Willie Conerly, and grandchildren, Jana, Jonathan and Taylor; son, Daniel
