Alvina (Berhardt) Skibbe
Alvina (Berhardt) Skibbe, 90,
passed away Monday (May 26, 2008) in Newton.
She was born Dec. 22, 1917,
in Marion County to Henry and Mary (Hill) Bernhardt. They preceded her in
death.
Alvina married Forrest Skibbe
on April 25, 1939, at the Charlesburg Church in Marion. He preceded her in
death.
Alvina worked as a nurse's
aide at Wheat State Nursing Center in Whitewater.
She enjoyed gardening and
flowers, puzzles and needlework. She loved her family and grandkids.
Survivors include sons, Darrel
and Connie Skibbe of Newton and Jerald Skibbe of Greensburg; daughter, Jeannie
Bateman of Marion; sister, Verla Mae Cott of Salina; and three grandchildren.
She also was preceded in
death by three sisters and three brothers.
Funeral service was at 10 a.m.
this morning at Petersen Funeral Home in Newton, with Pastor Terry Tareila of
First Baptist Church in Newton officiating.
Burial was at Restlawn
Cemetery in Newton.
