Nona May Ball Church

Nona May Ball Church, 76, passed away Wednesday (Nov. 28, 2007) at Kansas Christian Home in Newton.

She was born May 13, 1931, to Ellis E. and Leona (Womble) Ball in Lane.

She attended schools in Rantoul and Evergreen, and graduated from El Dorado High School in El Dorado.

On March 13, 1951, she wed Orville A. Church at Fayetteville, Ark. He precedes her in death.

She was employed at Phillips Industries, Classic Interiors, and Kmart.

She was involved in Boy Scouts of America for 26 years.

To her, family was first and foremost. She enjoyed the outdoor activities her family enjoyed and also attending the activities of her children and grandchildren.

Newton was her home for 49 years.

Survivors include sons, Tom and wife, Omi, of Billings, Mont., Gary and wife, Denise, of Newton, Larry and wife, Debbie, of Newton, Bobby and wife, Ruth, of Canton; a brother Don, and wife, Juania, of Grandbury, Texas; and grandchildren Jessica Sullivan of Bellevue, Wash., Brent Church of Kirkland, Wash., Zac Church of Hays, Sarah Nelms of Newton, and Amy, Josh and Ray Church of Newton.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ellis E. and Leona Ball; husband, Orville; son, Terry; and a baby girl.

Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Friday at Petersen Funeral Home in Newton, with family present from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Kingdom Life Ministries in Hesston, with Pastor Scott Miller officiating.

Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Newton.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Boy Scouts of America or Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice in care of the funeral home.
