Obituary
Patricia L. Black, 77, died Thursday
(Nov. 22, 2018) at Kansas Christian Home in Newton. She was born July
2, 1941, in Great Bend to Herschel and Marie (Piland) Adams. Patricia
lived in Macksville until 1951, when the family moved to Dodge City.
On Aug. 22, 1959, she married Gary L. Black in Dodge City and he
preceded her in death on Aug. 16, 2011.
Patricia was a member of St. Luke
Evangelical Church in Newton. She faithfully served St. Luke's
through the years in many ways, including being an Elder of the
church.
She graduated from Dodge City High
School, where she was the 1959 class Valedictorian. She was also a
graduate of the Dodge City Junior College.
Patricia was a kind, loving and
peaceful person. She greatly looked forward to spending time with her
loving family and many friends. She could often be found with a good
book and often went through one or more books a week. One of her
favorite pastimes was to travel with her husband and family on
vacations.
Patricia is survived by her sons, Jim
and his wife Shelley Black of Newton and Brian Black and his
significant other Debbie Williams of Sedgwick. She is also survived
by a granddaughter, Christen Martens and her husband Nathaniel;
grandson, Tyler Black; great-grandchildren, Neely Martens and Grayson
Black; and niece, Christel and Ben Longoria, and their son Declan.
Patricia is preceded in death by her
parents; husband; and one sister, Ramona McKibben.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m.
Thursday (Nov. 29, 2018) at St. Luke Evangelical Church in Newton,
with Pastor Jeff Sparks and Pastor Larry Sadowski presiding.
Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday (Nov. 28, 2018) at Petersen
Funeral Home, with the family receiving friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
at the funeral home. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Newton.
Memorials are suggested to Harvey
County Special Olympics in care of Petersen Funeral Home.
