Ray Dean Courtney

Ray Dean Courtney, 54, died Sunday (April 9, 2006) at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. He was born Oct. 26, 1951, to William Calvin and Pat (Davis) Courtney in Liberal. He married Esther Windholz Aug. 7, 1971, in Victoria. He was a store manager at Dillon's in McPherson and had been with Dillon's since 1973. He had lived in Newton since 2000. He attended Liberty Baptist Church in Newton and was a member of the Newton Remote Control Airplane Club. Survivors include: his wife, Esther Courtney of the home; a son, Jeff Courtney and wife Vicki of Kansas City, Mo.; a daughter, Terri Braun and husband Scott of Hays; his mother, Pat Courtney of Liberal; a brother, Lee Courtney and wife Janice of Liberal; sisters, Sharon Moeller of Albuquerque, N.M., Louise Collins and husband Kevin of Liberal and Nina Roughton and husband Mike of Phoenix; and four grandchildren, Bryce Braun, Coby Braun, Cooper Courtney and Kori Courtney.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. today at Cline's Mortuary of Hays, 1919 E. 22nd, Hays, KS 676021, and from 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesday at Celebration Community Church in Hays.

Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church.

Burial will be Mount Allen Cemetery in Hays.

Memorials have been established with Liberty Baptist Church in care of the funeral home.
