Charlene Elizabeth Hamilton

Charlene Elizabeth Hamilton, 70, died Wednesday (March, 21, 2007) at Kansas Christian Home in Newton.

She was born on Feb. 28, 1937, to Aaron Hamilton and Myrtle Parks in Yates Center. She married Leo Brockman on May 24, 1958, in Marysville. He survives. She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church. She attended Yates Center School. For more than 20 years she worked in the food service industry, greatly enjoyed bingo and loved spending time and caring for her family.

Survivors also include son, Jim and Anne Brockman of Emporia; son, Michael and Vickie Brockman of Newton; sister, Myrtle Caudel of Iola; sister, Clara Griffith of Eureka; sister, Ella Dill of Wichita; sister, Mildred Cole of Eureka; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, William Hamilton, sister, Essie Morrison, sister, Alma Geisler, brother, Richard Hamilton and infant daughter, Mary Pearl Hamilton.

Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Thursday with family greeting friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Petersen Funeral Home in Newton.

Service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Petersen Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Peter Ostrander of Liberty Baptist Church officiating.

Memorials may be sent to Center for Basic Cancer Research, Liberty Baptist Church or Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice in care of the funeral home.
