Ervin Edward Berger

Peabody - Ervin Edward Berger, 88, died at his home in Peabody on August 23, 2021. He was born in a small farmhouse near Walton on November 20, 1932. His family moved to Sedgwick in 1938 and to Newton in 1940.

He began working at Boeing Aircraft in Wichita October 1951. He married Frances Lavonne Schmidt June 29, 1958. Ervin worked at Boeing for 44 years. In retirement he volunteered restoring the B-29 bomber nicknamed "Doc" in Wichita and Newton. As a longtime volunteer on the project he was treated with a ride on "Doc" and got to fly over Peabody. Ervin was also an avid golfer and enjoyed 3 nights a week of bowling.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Reinold and Cora Berger; wife, Frances; two sisters and four brothers.

He is survived by 2 sisters and one brother; son, Michael (Cheryl) of Peabody; son, Gary (Sue) of Clearwater; daughter, Cathy (Kent) of Wichita, son, Scott (Jennifer) of Circleville, New York; 8 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorials may be sent to Harry Hynes Hospice or Doc's Friends PO Box 771089 Wichita, KS 67277.
