Obituary

John Louis Beck of Newton, Kansas, went to Heaven on August 15, 2022, at the age of 89. He was born on April 21, 1933, in Claflin, Kansas, the son of Charles and Mary (Bieberle) Beck. On September 14, 1954, he was united in marriage to Elsie Rous in Claflin, Kansas. The couple would have celebrated their 68th anniversary. A longtime member of St. Mary?s Catholic Church, John and Elsie gave freely of their time helping with funeral dinners, decorating at Christmas, and helping anywhere they could. John was a proud veteran who served in the United States Air Force. John always looked forward to the Walnut Valley Festival in Winfield, vacationing in Colorado, and taking trips to the east coast. He enjoyed meeting people and made lifelong friends everywhere they traveled. John is survived by his wife, Elsie Beck; children, Mike Beck and wife Anita, Sandy Liby and husband Steve, Jim Beck and wife Carol, and Theresa Beck; brother, Bob Beck and wife Nancy; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Larry Beck and Jerome Beck; and sister, Evelyn (Beck) Woerz. The Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m., on Friday, August 18, 2022, at St. Mary?s Catholic Church in Newton, Kansas. Rosary will take place the same day as the service at 10:00 a.m.. Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery. Memorial contributions in John?s name may be made to St. Mary?s Catholic Church.
