Larry Lee Guhr, age 82, passed away on Wednesday, April 5, 2023, after a short battle with cancer.
Larry was born in Newton, Kansas to John and Velma (Wedel) Guhr on July 15, 1940. He spent his life in the Newton and Wichita area. He graduated from Newton High School in 1958 and attended Wichita State University. Following his studies, he began a career at MISCO Leasing, where he worked for over 20 years as Treasurer, Vice-President, and President. He then went into building management, managing ?The Blue Goose? and the Boat House, and was owner and manager of the Orpheum facilities.
In 1977 Larry married Betty (Fuller) Nelson in Wichita, and they enjoyed over 45 years of marriage. Previous marriages to Adelyn Waltner mother of Rick. Faye Whitley mother of Crystie Macormac, Cheri Wisdom, Teri Wright and Larry E. Guhr. After retiring, Larry enjoyed working on and refurbishing his collection of classic cars, keeping his yard manicured, and spending time with friends and family.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Ken, son, Larry E., two granddaughters, and one grandson. He is survived by his brother, Stan (Linda) Guhr of Newton; sister Sharon (Carl) Merriman of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; his wife, Betty, of Wichita; son Rick (Carla) Guhr of Sanger, TX; son, Mike (Pam) Nelson of Newton, KS; son, Steve Nelson of Wichita; daughter Crystie Macormac of Wichita, daughter Cheri (Bradley) Wisdom of Wichita; and Teri Wright. He is also survived by 32 grand-children, 70 greatgrandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be Tuesday, April 11 with family present from 4-7 pm at Resthaven Mortuary (Kellogg & 119th St West). Funeral service will be held Wednesday, April 12 at 10am at Asbury United Methodist Church, 2801 W 15th St North in Wichita. Interment will follow the service at Benton Cemetery. Memorial donations can be made in Larry?s honor to the American Cancer Society or the Bible Broadcast Network.
