Bonnie Mae Sickbert, 93, secretary at United Methodist Youthville in Newton, died Wednesday (Feb. 2, 2005) at Presbyterian Manor in Newton. She was born July 28, 1911, to Jonah Elmer and Mary Roletta (Abbott) Bryson in Neodesha. She married James Virgil Shepherd on May 29, 1930, in Columbus. He preceded her in death June 5, 1980. She married Reuben Daniel Sickbert July 25, 1981, in Sedgwick. He survives. Other survivors include: a daughter, Bonnie Darlene Giffin of Little Rock, Ark.; three stepsons, Wallace Sickbert of Overland Park, James Sickbert of Great Bend and Gary Sickbert of Argent, Ill.; stepdaughters, Patricia Arnold of Fort Collins, Colo., and Cheryl Okonek of Coon Rapids, Minn.; a brother, Louis Bryson of El Dorado; a sister, Betty Hicks of Neodesha; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by: a daughter, Dixie Bomholt; two brothers, Frank and Elmer Bryson; a sister, Myrtle Kilmer; and a granddaughter, Camilla Haynes. She was a member of First Christian Church in Sedgwick. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. today with family greeting friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Kaufman Funeral Home in Halstead. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery in Sedgwick. Memorials have been established with the Cammy Giffen Haynes Nursing Scholarship Fund and Presbyterian Manor, both in care of the funeral home, 418 Chestnut, Halstead, KS 67056.
