Obituary

R.D. "Buster" Sickbert, 95, died Sunday (April 8, 2007) at Presbyterian Manor in Newton. He was born on March 23, 1912, in Wichita to Daniel William and Elizabeth Marie (Wullschleger) Sickbert. Both preceded him in death. He married Mary Elizabeth Hendrickson on Sept. 28, 1931. She preceded him in death in 1980. On July 25, 1982, he married Bonnie Bryson Shepherd. She preceded him in death on Feb. 2, 2005. He was a retired pressman for Printing Inc. in Wichita. He was a member of Sedgwick United Methodist Church. Survivors include sons, Wallace Sickbert of Overland Park, James Sickbert of Great Bend, and Gary Sickbert of Argenta, Ill.; daughters, Patricia Arnold of Loveland, Colo. and Cheryl Okonek of Coon Rapids, Minn.; a step-daughter, Darlene Giffin of Little Rock, Ark.; 15 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Norman Sickbert and Lawrence Sickbert. Service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Kaufman Funeral Home in Halstead with the Rev. Paul Stephens officiating. Burial will be at Hillside Cemetery in Sedgwick. Memorials may be made to Presbyterian Manor Good Samaritan fund in care of the funeral home.
