Wilbur was a prominent stock-man and farmer in Harvey County and founder of Prouty Truck Line. He was a descendant of Amos Prouty who's family were some of the very first settlers to come and homestead in Harvey County.

Two sons, Robert L. and Ted E. and six daughters, Jean A., Elizabeth M., Marilyn S., Carol A., Mary K,.and Donna J. one brother Clyde Henry Jr. Prouty and a sister Dorothy.
