ELBING -- Marian Ewert Regier, 83, of Elbing, died Sunday (Aug. 6, 2000) at Newton Medical Center.
She was born March 7, 1917, in rural Elbing to Abraham and Rose (Mosiman) Sommers. She married Walter K Ewert Aug. 20, 1940, in Elbing. He preceded her in death April 1963. She married Paul G Regier Nov 17, 1984, in Newton. He also preceded her in death Oct 1998.
She lived most of her life in Newton. She worked as a clerk for the Harvey County Treasurer's office from 1970 to 1982, when she retired.
She was a member of First Missionary Church in Newton. She attended Zion Mennonite Church in Elbing the past few years.
Survivors include: two sons, Tim Ewert of Houston, and Tony Ewert of Lawrence; three daughters, Carolyn Adell and Betty Wohlgemuth, both of Houston, and Faith Hobbs of Newton; two step daughters, Ruby Kurr and Judy Janzen, both of Newton; 12 grandchildren; eight step grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She also was preceded in death by one son, Manley Ewert; four brothers, Samuel Sommers, Jonathan Sommers, John Sommers and Isaiah Sommers; and a grandson, Phillip Ewert.
Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Grace Community Church in Newton with the Revs. Ray Adams of First Missionary Church, Floyd Born of Zion Mennonite Church and Steve Friesen of the church officiating.
Graveside Services will be 9 a.m. Wednesday at First Missionary Church Cemetery near Elbing.
Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday with family greeting friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home.
Memorials have been established with Missionary Church World Partners and Mennonite Central Committee in care of the funeral home.
