Crandall, Joseph A

History

He came to Newton, Kansas with his parents Robert W. and Sarah Crandall, at the age of six years and grew to manhood here. On August 28, 1895 he married Amelia Hauck, who was also a resident of Newton and a neighbor from childhood. After a short residence in Newton and Arkansas City in which later place he was foreman for a windmill factory, the family moved to Wichita locating on the west side of the city. Except for a period of seven years, 1910 to 1917 during which time the family lived on a farm near Norwich, he made his home in Wichita.

He was a machinist by trade until the loss of an eye compelled him to relinquish this. Since that time he followed the trade of carpenter and cabinet maker. He was a member of the Sons of Veterans.
