Obituary

Evening Kansan, Saturday, April 29, 1944 Mr. Walton spent his entire life in this community with the exception of three years when he was working for the Rock Island railroad out of Herington, Kansas. On August 20, 1908 he was united in marriage to Evelyn Tourtillott and to this union two children were born: Mrs. Leo (Evelyn) Sinclair and Kenneth Walton, both of this city. He started working for the Santa Fe railroad as a brakeman on November 30, 1912 and was promoted to conductor July 25, 1920. He served the railroad for 32 years, coming in from his "run" Friday morning at 1:30. He was taken suddenly ill at 3:00 o'clock and passed away at 5:00 a. m. following a heart attack. In addition to his widow, his son Kenneth and daughter Evelyn Sinclair, he is also survived by one brother John A. Walton of Las Vegas, Nevada, two sisters, Mrs. Florence Canady, San Bernadino, Calif., Mrs. Charlotte Carson, Huntington Park, Calif., and one granddaughter, Susan Jane Walton. Funeral services were held at the Duff and Son Funeral chapel on Tuesday morning, April 25, at 10:00 o'clock With Rev. J. D. Schmidt, pastor of the First Congregational church officiating. Pallbearers were R. M. Brown, H. P. Tudor, C. B. Middaugh, C. H. Devorraux, A. S. Pearson and E. W. Mills. Entombment was made in Greenwood abbey.
