Brandt, Albert

The Newton Kansan

Kansan, Saturday, March 1, 1930

Albert Julian Brandt, aged 43 years, died at 12:30 this morning at his home 501 Southeast Third following an illness of ten days of influenza which terminated in pneumonia.

Mr. Brandt was well known in this community, having lived here for 42 years. He was a plasterer by trade. He was brought to this city when a year old by his parents and this place had been his home continually since. On August 28, 1908 he was married to Marcia Humphrey. He is survived by Mrs. Brandt and a daughter, Signa aged 17 and by the following brothers and sisters: Fred Brandt of Salina; Will E. Brandt of Whitter, Calif., and Mrs. Robertson and Walter Brandt of this city.

Expressions of great surprise and deep regret at the death of Mr. Brandt were herd on the streets today almost continuously. He was known as a good, generous hearted man and any of his friend who came to him for help in trouble were not turned away unassisted. He took great pride in his work and was known as a reliable and responsible contractor. He had not been sick long and the news of his death today came as a shock to his many friends and acquaintances. He was strong and had apparently never known any illness until stricken with influenza ten days ago.

The funeral service will be held Monday afternoon at 2:30 at the Congregational church, the Rev. Fred Smith officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Abby.
