He was the retired owner of Benfer Insurance-Real Estate and Loan Company in Newton for many years. He was on the board of First Bank of Newton, belonged to Masonic Lodge No. 142, the Wichita Consistoey, Midian Shrine, and was a former county agent for the Federal Land Bank until his retirement.
