The 271st Field Artillery Battalion (105mm Howitzer Tractor Drawn)
was attached to the 1st Cavalry Division, Special which landed in
the Philippines on 20 October 1944. It was then shipped to Japan
where it arrived on 2 September 1945 and stayed through 1946.
