Kean C. Rossiter, son of George and Isabel Rossiter was born in Terra Haute, Indiana, may 8 1872. At the age of six, he moved with his parents to Paris, Illinois where he received his education graduating from Paris High school with the class of 1895.
He came to Newton in 1897 and has lived here ever since. His occupation has always been that of a cook and in that capacity he has worked at many of the best restaurants and hotels, continuing to work until one week before his death when he became ill with the influenza and complication which resulted in his death.
He was married to Hazel Rickman, daughter of Patrick and Amanda Rickman in 1906. To that unionwere born eleven children: Patrick, Isabel, Helen, Juanita,
Guy, Beatrice, Maxine, Bonnie Mae and June, all surviving. Rachel and Lucille are deceased.
During his lifetime he made many friends, being kind to everyone. He was earnest and sincere in all that he attempted. He was a kind and loving husband and father and will be sorely missed in the family circle, and by a multitude of friends.
Funeral services were held at the Duff and Son funeral parlors Saturday afternoon at 2:15 with Rev. Coleman, pastor of the C.M.E. church. officiating. Special music was furnished by the church.
Casket bearers were: Clarence Paige, Clifford, Theodore and U. S. Rickman, Wayman Anderson and Nathaniel Anderson.
Interment was at Greenwood cemetery in charge of Duff and Son.
