Yarbrough, Jack

Jack Yarbrough, 90, of Whitewater, passed away on Thursday (Sept. 23, 2010) in Newton. He was born on Oct. 7, 1919, to George and Zoe Yarbrough. On April 7, 1948, he married Marjorie Foster. She survives of the home. Jack served in the U.S. Army in the 2nd Armored Division “Hell on Wheels” from 1941 to 1945, serving in the European Theater of World War II. His medals and honors include the Silver Star, Distinguished Service Medal, five Bronze Stars and numerous campaign medals. He attended the Federated Church in Whitewater and was retired. He is survived by his children, Susi (Bill) Kirkpatrick of Camarillo, Calif., and John (Sue) Yarbrough of Fort Worth, Texas; sisters, Kay Busch and Ginger Dome, both of Wichita; brother, Bill Yarbrough of Denver; grandchildren, Michael Resnik of Topeka, Jeff Yarbrough of Fort Worth, Jason Yarbrough of Beaumont, Texas, and James Kirkpatrick of Denton, Texas; great-grandchildren, Kyle Resnik, Cole Resnik, Regan Yarbrough, Asher Yarbrough, Reese Yarbrough; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, J.R. Yarbrough; sister, Lucille Yarbrough; and his parents. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Lamb Funeral Home in Whitewater. Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Federated Church, 207 E. Central in Whitewater, with Pastor Steve Bowman presiding, with burial immediately following.
