Jacob Koslowsky, 86, died Saturday (Aug. 28, 2010) at Asbury Park Healthcare in Newton. He was born Jan. 17, 1924, in rural Peabody to Martin and Mary (Lohrenz) Koslowsky. On June 22, 1957, he married Darlene Faye Fast in Joes, Colo., and she preceded him in death on May 5, 2006. Jacob was a member of the Koerner Heights Church of the Mennonite Brethren in Newton. He was a retired master plumber for the former Reimer plumbing in Hesston. Jacob enjoyed working and keeping his hands busy. His family was very important to him, and he greatly enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and sister. Jacob is survived by his sons, Daryl Koslowsky and his fiancé Jennifer Joseph of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Marlin and his wife Melissa Koslowsky of Newton; daughter, Cynthia and Blaine Welton of Wichita; sister, Mary Seibel of Hillsboro; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Darlene; and 10 brothers and sisters. Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. today at Petersen Funeral Home in Newton, with the family receiving friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Koerner Heights Church of the Mennonite Brethren in Newton, with Pastor Timothy Mace presiding. A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. at the Ebenfeld Church Cemetery in rural Hillsboro. Memorials may be left with the Parkinson Foundation or Koerner Heights Church in care of Petersen Funeral Home.
