Evening Kansan-Republican Tuesday November 21, 1939

Jane Hannah [Hatfield] Huntington, daughter of George and Hannah Jane [Trousdale] Hatfield, was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, October 28, 1852, and passed away at the Axtell Christian hospital in Newton, Kansas, on November 17, 1939, having reached the advanced age of 87 years and 19 days.
She left Ohio when a gril of 16 years and moved with her family to Platteville, Wisconsin, where she met John R. Huntington. They were married in 1872, and moved to Kansas in 1887and settled on a farm five miles north of Newton. They lived on that farm until 1897, when they moved to newton, the home being here ever since. Mr. Huntington passed away in 1931 and mrs. Huntington has made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Hauck, the last few years.
Mrs. Huntington leaves two daughters Mrs. Nellie Hauck, Newton, and Mrs. Daisy Lewellen of Sedgwick and a grand daughter, Mrs. Gertude Groves, of Sedgwick, and a host of other relatives and close friends.
Funeral services were held at the family home, 304 East Eighth Street, Monday, November 20, 1939, at 2:00 p.m., with Rev. G.L. Coppedge and Rev. J.E. Coe officiating. A duet composed of Mrs. Chas. C. Hart and Mrs. C.L. Merriam sang" Going Down The Valley", "In The Garden", and "Sometime We Will Understand". Pall Bearers were Abe L. Richert, Arthur Parkhurst, Willie Walton, Aldress Walton, John Becker and Chas. C. Hart. The home was filled to overflow by her many friends from every walk of life who came to pay their last tribute of respect to her fine Christian character. Entombment was made in Greenwood Abbey.
