Bradley, Horace

Sedgwick Pantagraph

Horace Bradley was born in Vermont July 21, 1830 and died at his home near Sedgwick Kansas June 4, 1910 aged 79 years 10 months and 14 days.

He was left an orphan at about six years of age and had to make his way as best he could. When the Civil War broke out he enlisted with the New Hampshire volunteers and served from 1861 until 1863. He was married October 21, 1865 to Julia Phipps of New Albany, Indiana. To this union twelve children were born. One child died in infancy. The deceased leaves six sons, five daughters and a loving wife to mourn his loss. He moved from Indiana to Kentucky thence to Kansas in 1884, locating at Burrton, afterward moving near Sedgwick.

The funeral was held at the family home one mile east and two and one-half miles north of Sedgwick on Wednesday, June 8th conducted by the writer and attended by a hose of neighbors and friends. His children were all present, coming from Oklahoma, Idaho and western Kansas to attend the funeral. He was laid to rest in Hillside Cemetery.
