Elwood and Norma Jean Zuercher of Whitewater will be honored for their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house from 2 to 4 p.m. Sept. 5 at Koerner Heights Church, 320 N. Meridian Road in Newton.

Elwood Zuercher and the former Norma Jean Wuthrich were married Aug. 26, 1949, at The Federated Church in Whitewater.

They resided in rural Whitewater for 43 years and now reside at 612 S. Main in Whitewater. He is a self-employed farmer, and she is a housewife and worked in the dietary department at Wheat State Manor in Whitewater.

Hosts for the event will be their children and their spouses: Stan and Debbie Zuercher, Sandra and Randy Jensen and Loren and Diana Zuercher, all of Whitewater; and Norman and Kim Zuercher of Wichita.

The couple has nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
