Richard D. Fryhover, 55, died Wednesday (July 7, 1999) at Kansas University Medical Center.

He was born Jan. 13, 1944, in Newton to Oliver and Violet (Nettrouer) Fryhover. He married Zelda Hatfield Sept. 5, 1987. She survives of the home. He grew up in Newton and was a Newton High School graduate. He has been an over the road truck driver for several years having most recently been employed at Woolco in Junction City and Price Trucklines in Salina. He has lived in Abilene since their marriage.

Other survivors include: four daughters, Rhonda Liggett and Vicky Telles, both of Newton and Tammie Schooler and Melissa Kennedy, both of Topeka; two sons, Richard Fryhover Jr. of Newton and Kerry Fryhover of Salina; five step-daughters, Donna Bryan of Benton, Ill., Toni Bell of Industry, Wanda Bell and Karen McGrath, both of Abilene and Sandy Boston of Chapman; one step-son, John Hatfield of Abilene; one sister, Shirley Turner of Newton; two brothers, Oliver Fryhover of Hutchinson and Charles Fryhover; six grandchildren; 25 step-grandchildren; and 10 step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother, Tom Fryhover; and one sister, Bonnie Fritts.

Memorial services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church in Abilene with the Rev. Morita Truman officiating. Friends may call until 8 p.m. today at Danner Funeral Home in Abilene. He will be cremated. Memorials have been established with American Cancer Society in care of the funeral home.
