Farmer Killed In Accident
A 38-year-old farmer was killed Saturday in an accident on his farm southeast of Whitewater.

Jonathan Busenitz was pronounced dead at a Wichita hospital after the 6:40 p.m. accident. Butler County sheriff's Det. Kelly Herzet said Busenitz was using a high-loader tractor to load a feed truck. Busenitz got off the tractor to put something into the loader bucket when the bucket pinned him against the truck, Herzet said.

Authorities were not sure how the tractor pinned Busenitz.

He was discovered by a family member, Herzet said.

Whitewater rescue personnel were first called to the accident at 8413 Prairie Creek Road, in Butler County, about a mile east of Whitewater and a half mile south of K-196.

A Newton ambulance took Busenitz to Wesley Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead "shortly after arrival," said Newton Fire/EMS Deputy Chief Mark Willis.

Funeral service for Busenitz, the father of five sons and two daughters, will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Emmaus Mennonite Church of Whitewater.
