Charles Dillman Loses Foot - Newton Kansan 26 Dec 1918

Newspaper

The many friends of Charles Dillman will regret to learn that it became necessary to amputate his right foot five inches above the ankle.

It will be remembered that Charles was severely injured several weeks ago while pulling hedge. The doubletrees broke, allowing the sweep to fly around, inflicting severe wounds. He was brought to Axtell hospital and for a time it was thought possible that his foot could be saved, but conditions developed in such a manner that the amputation was deemed necessary, and the operation was performed Tuesday evening. The left leg, which was broken, is mending nicely. His home is northeast of Hesston.
