Marjorie I. Gunn Price, 91, of Newton, died on Monday (Jan. 17, 2011) at Presbyterian Manor in Newton.

Marjorie was born on April 14, 1919, in Great Bend, the daughter of Lee and Lydia (Appel) Wells. She graduated from Great Bend High School in 1938. She married Richard “Dick” H. Gunn on Nov. 5, 1939, in Hutchinson. They moved to Newton in the early ’60s, and he passed away in 1975. Marjorie began working at Cessna during World War II while her husband served in the Pacific. In 1965, she started as a secretary for ADM Industries. She became a managing partner of ADM Industries until she sold the business in 1980. In April 1980, she married Charles “Ed” Edward Price in Marion. She and Ed enjoyed travel. They traveled throughout the United States but always were most content when they were at Marion Lake. She was a strong and successful businesswoman. She was a past Business Woman of the Year winner. She was active in the American Legion and VFW auxiliaries and was a member of the First United Methodist Church and Priscilla’s Circle. She enjoyed playing bridge and was a great cook. Marjorie spent her final seven years in the care of the Presbyterian Manor in Newton. The Manor and the people of the Manor were her extended family. Marjorie was an influential lady who touched the lives of many. Her absence and presence will be missed.

She is survived by her son, Richard (Rick) Gunn II and his wife, Janet Gunn of Newton; sister-in-law, Louise Gunn of Great Bend; granddaughter, Elizabeth “Liz” Gunn of Newton; and two nieces. Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents, Lee and Lydia Wells; two husbands, Richard Gunn and Charles “Ed” Price; and brother, Billy Wells.

Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. today at Petersen Funeral Home. The family will greet friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Presbyterian Manor Chapel. The final resting place will be at the Great Bend City Cemetery that afternoon Wednesday. A memorial has been set up for Central Prairie Kansas Honor Flights, in care of Petersen Funeral Home.
