Houston---Charles D. Foust, 80, of Houston passed away Tuesday [June 30, 2009] in Houston.

Charles was born on Oct. 2, 1928, in Topeka, the son of William K. And Harriet Foust.


When his country called, Charles answered by joining the U.S. Army in 1950, where he served in the Korean Conflict and was awarded three Bronze Campaign Stars before his honorable discharge in 1956.


Also during this time, Charles attended Kansas State University, where he earned his bachelor of science degree in business administration.

After graduation, Charles was employed by Phillips Petroleum Co. at various locations and retired in Houston in 1985 after 30 years of service in the field of accounting.

Charles had a passion for travel, gardening, music, reading and golf. Most of all, he loved to visit with family and friends.


Charles is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Dorothy [Androes] Foust of the home. Paul Foust and his wife, Cathy, of League City, Texas; daughters, Barbara Foust Powell and her husband David, and Marcia Foust Fox and her husband, David, all of Austin, Texas; brother, George Foust of Topeka; six grandchildren and numerous friends.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home in Newton, with the Rev. Gary Bell officiating. The family will receive friends from 9a.m. until service time Monday at the funeral home.

Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Newton.
