Daisy Marie Brookshier
Daisy Marie Brookshier, 75, formerly of Orrick, Mo., died Sunday (Nov. 28, 1999) at Newton Medical Center.
She was born July 31, 1924, in Rosalia to John and Mary Belle Jones. She married Russell K. Brookshier in 1953, in Hoisington. He preceded her in death Feb. 17, 1993.
She was a 1942 graduate of El Dorado High School. She was a registered nurse, where she worked in Ray County and hospitals in the Kansas City area. She also took nurses training at Halstead Hospital and worked as a floor supervisor for two years.
She was a Korean War veteran, serving in the Navy from 1951 to 1953.
She was a member of Union Baptist Church in Orrick.
Survivors include: one daughter, Linda Brookshier of Orrick, Mo.; and two sisters, Tressie Lambert and Allene Christians, both of Newton. She also was preceded in death by her parents; and three brothers, Leonard Jones, Willard Jones and Orville Jones Jr.
Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Union Baptist Church in Orrick. Burial will be in the Cowgill Cemetery in Cowgill, Mo.
Friends may call from 7 to 8 p.m. today at Union Baptist Church.
