Clayton McClure, 87, died Thursday (July 12, 2007) at Newton Medical Center in Newton.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia McClure of Walton.
He was born on April 27, 1920, to Lester and Leto McClure in Walton. Clayton graduated from Walton High School in 1940. He married Virginia Bahr June 12, 1940. Clayton worked most of his life farming near Whitewater.
Clayton was a lifetime member of Walton United Methodist Church. He and his wife Virginia were 4-H leaders for more than 60 years for the Richland Live Wire 4-H Club. Clayton also was active in the Harvey County Fair as sheep superintendent, a member of Harvey County 4-H Council and the Richland Township Board.
He is survived by brothers Virgil, Marvin and Maurice McClure; sisters, Theda Merritt, Betty Lou Smith, Janice Capps and Joyce DuFriend. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters Viola Gillmore and Thelma Minard.
Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home in Newton with family present from 6 to 8 p.m.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Walton United Methodist Church in Walton with Pastor Judith Mae presiding. Burial will follow in the Walton Cemetery.
Memorials have been established with the Walton United Methodist Church and Harvey County 4-H Development Fund, in care of the Broadway Colonial Funeral Home.
