Bair, Edgar

The Newton Kansan

Edgar C. Bair son of John and Angelina Tuttle Bair, was born June 14, 1891 at Fontana, Kansas, and passed away May 30, 1946 at the Bethel Deaconess hospital in Newton at the age of 54 years, 11 months and 16 days, He came to Newton with his parents when he was 11 years old and lived here since that time. For the past several years he was employed by the city, most recently the fire department. He was fatally injured while answering an alarm on May 24.

He was united in marriage to Miss Audy Reynolds on December 31, 1915 at Wichita, and to this union five children were born, one preceding him in death.

He was a member of the Newton War Dads and the First Baptist church.

He leaves his wife Mrs Audy Bair, Newton and the following children: Mrs. Edward (Maxine) Wayne: Mrs Henry (Amy) Scripter, Wilber Bair and Mrs Clarence (Betty) Teall, all of Newton, one brother: Harry O. Bair, Marysville, Kansas and one half brother and one half-sister: Garfield Dustin, Towanda, Kansas, and Mrs. Amy Tremain, Salina, Kansas. and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at the Moody Funeral Chapel on Saturday, June 1 at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Silas S. Rexroat and Rev. O. E. Duncan taking part in the services. Marjorie Nelson and Mrs. O. E. Duncan sang, "God Will Take Care of you." They were accompanied on the Hammond organ by Mrs. Chas. Bachmann.

Pallbearers were Fireman Albert Foster, Elvin Warhurst and Fred Fagan, policeman R.F. McCloud, W.S. Gibson and C.F. Patterson.

Interment was made in the family lot in Greenwood cemetery by Rex M. Moody of Moody Funeral Home.
