Daniel Samuel Hixson

Daniel Samuel Hixson was born at Lexington, Ohio February 20, 1836 and died at his home in Bentley, Kansas November 16, 1905. Mr. Hixson enlisted in Company A 48th Regiment O.V.I. September 11, 1861 and served 18 months in the Civil War. He was married December 3, 1863 to Rachel Jane Smith of New Lexington, Ohio. To this union were born three sons and four daughters all of whom survive him, except his son Clinton. He embraced the Christian religion in 1893 and has endeavored to live close to his Master. His funeral services were conducted at the Pleasant Valley Church Saturday afternoon by Rev. Eldred, after the remains were laid to rest with GAR honors at Hillside Cemetery, Sedgwick, Harvey Co., Kansas.
