She attended grade school at the Dewey Rural School near Newton, and graduated from Newton High School in 1928. She worked for First National Bank in Newton before moving to California.

In California she worked as a private secretary for the vice president of the Crocker National Bank in Los Angeles. She and her husband[Les Lilly] Moved to Las Vegas in 1988 before moving to Henderson.

Two brothers Elmer and Earl and one sister Cora[McJilton].
