Johnson, Lucile



She was born on May 20, 1912, in Carney, Okla., to Sarah Elizabeth (Whitinger) and Paul Clifford Bellatti. On Oct. 14, 1931, she married Clarence J. in Newton. He died Oct. 16, 1964. She was a resident of Newton since 1924, before relocating to Mulvane in 2002. She held a membership with First Christian Church in Newton. She also was a member of the Axtell Auxiliary and the Progressive Women's Club in Newton. She was employed as an administrative assistant for Kansas Christian Home and also was a secretary for the J.C. Penney's store. She retired as a receptionist for Draper-Cannon Funeral Home.

Survivors include a granddaughter, Denise Bagby of Derby; a grandson, Paul Johnson of Derby; a grandson, Tim Johnson of Derby; a daughter-in-law, Beth Johnson of Derby; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Weston Johnson, brothers, Glenn Bellatti, Vernon Bellatti and Kenneth C. Bellatti, a sister, Loraine Rupp, granddaughter, Anne Johnson, and a great-grandson, Tyler Bagby.

Visitation will be from noon to 9 p.m. today at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home in Newton.

Service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Greenwood Cemetery with the Rev. Gary Bell officiating. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery.

Memorial contributations may be made to First Christian Church or Kansas Christian Home in care of the funeral home.
