Ruth E. Walters, 81, died Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2006, at Newton Medical Center.
She was born on Jan. 2, 1925, in Hutchinson to Harry and Clara (Sellers) Marsh.

On June 2, 1942, she married Floyd A. Walters in El Dorado. He preceded her in death on March 22, 1981.

She enjoyed flower gardening around her home. She greatly enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, especially baby-sitting her grandchildren. She also enjoyed helping care for elderly people in their homes.

Survivors include a son, Tony Walters of Newton; two daughters, Barbara and Jim Stucky of Newton, and Sharon Chapman of Upland, Calif.; two brothers, Sammy Marsh of Tucson, Ariz., and Jerry Marsh of Halstead; a sister, Phylis Howe of Wichita; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Myrl Hirschler, Evelyn Akers and Niva Johnson; and four brothers, Don Marsh, Harold Marsh, Roy Marsh and Dale Marsh.

Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Petersen Funeral Home.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Petersen Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Phil Fischer officiating.

Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Newton.
