GOESSEL -- L. MayBelle Grimm, 96, former Newton resident, died Thursday (March 22, 2001) at Bethesda Home in Goessel.


She was born April 20, 1904 in Conway Springs to William Dean and Gracie Belle (Adair) McIntyre. She married Ralph A. Grimm August 3, 1921 in Conway Springs. He preceded her in death.

She was a telephone operator at Newton Credit Bureau until her retirement in 1969. She traveled extensively after retirement throughout Europe, Africa, the Near East and the United States. She was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church of Newton and a past member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She moved to Bethesda home in 1991.

Survivors include: a daughter, Lois Ward of Newton; and five sons, Dale Grimm of Wellington, Glenn Grimm of Conway Springs, Dean Grimm of Parker, Colo., Clyde Grimm of Chapman and Don Grimm of Goleta, Calif.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, 120 E. Broadway, with the Rev. James Anderson officiating. There will be a private graveside service.

Memorials have been established with First Presbyterian Churches in Newton and Conway Springs and Bethesda Home in Goessel in care of the funeral home
