Tinsley, Joseph

Halstead Independent

Joseph Tinsley, 68, former Sedgwick resident, died Dec. 18, 1989. He was born Jan. 26, 1921 at ElDorado, Kansas, son of Earl and Irene Fry Tinsley. He received his education in the Sedgwick Grade School and High School. He graduated from Sedgwick High School in 1939. He was in the Army in World War II and served as a radar technician in coastal defense in Florida.

He married Lois Armour of Bentley in 1942. She died in 1970. He then married Levon Phillips Dysart in 1975,

He was a retired St. Joseph Medical Center electronic technician, having worked there 13 years. Following retirement he enjoyed building wooden creations in his hobby shop and enjoyed working in the garden and taking care of his home.

Survivors: wife, Levon, of the home; two sons, Kenneth, Salinas, Calif; Stephen, Wichita; daughter, Janice Nichols, Leesburg, Virginia; stepson, Bill Dysart, step-daughters, Mary Lou Hitt and Joyce Bevan, all of Wichita; sisters, Lois Malone, Augusta and Lucile Grimwood, Wichita; 3 grandchildren, 9 step-grandchildren and 6 step-great-grancchildren.

Services were held Thursday, Dec. 21 at the Bethel Presbyterian Church, Wichita, with the Rev. Merritt Schatz. Burial was at Hillside Cemetery, Sedgwick, with military services by Hicks-Davison Post #268. Cochran Mortuary, Wichita, was in charge of arrangements.
