Albert G. Collins was born near Somerset, Kentucky on March 24, 1857 and departed this life on May 25 at Hutchinson, aged 58 years, 2 months, 1 day. He had been critically ill at his home in Hutchhinson with paralysis, the result of hemorrhage of the brain.

In 1871 he came to Harvey county with his mother, settling about 5 miles north of Burrton and resided in this vicinity til 1912, when he moved to Little Rock, Arkansas. In 1913 the family returned to Kansas and have resided in Hutchinson since that time.

On September 3, 1876 he was married to Henrietta R. Hunt, to which union eight children were born, six of whom survive the father as follows; Mrs. Myrtle Gordinier of Pratt, Mrs. Ethel Sullivan, Burrton, Frank (Bonnie) Collins, Lakeland, Florida; Mrs. Pearl Fenton, Kingman, Kansas; Claude and Raymond Collins of Hutchinson. He also leaves four brothers and five grandchilden.

While in Little Rock he became a Christian and at the time of his death was an acting member of the First Christian church at Hutchinson.

Funeral services were conducted Wednesday morning at the home, the Rev. K. F. Nance officiating. The body was buried in the Burrton Cemetery.
