John W. Myers

John Myers was born near West Salem, Edwards county, Illinois on Nov 14, 1847 and depaarted this life on Nov. 6, 1933, age 85 years 22 months, 28 days. Mr. Myers lived in his native state until 1871 when he came to Kansas with a team and wagon to take a homestead. In 1873 he was united in marriage to Mary F. Hunt, and had Mr. Myers lived three days longer, this couple would have celebrated their sixtieth wedding anniversary. The young bride was taken to the homestead west of Burrton and there they lived happily together until 1914 when they moved to Burrton, residing there until death called him to higher service. Survivors: his wife, four children, seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted from the Christian Church with Rev. Baldwin Pastor, in charge assisted by Rev. Williams of the Pleasant Grove U.B. church. Interment was made in Burrton Cemetery.
