Stewart, Glenn

Halstead Independent

Glenn Stewart, son of J. W. and Clema Stewart, was born April 12, 1892 on a farm near Halstead where he lived until his death January 7, 1937, age 44 years, 8 months, 25 days.

He owned the farm where he lived and he and his sister, Carrie, made their home there until September 10, 1926 when Miss Carrie passed from this life.

Glenn became sick last May and after an illness of several months was able to leave his bed but remained unable to carry on his work. His sudden death Thursday night apparently resulted from high blood pressure. At his call, his brother, Jay, and wife rushed to his room where he died a few minutes later.

During his younger life he became a member of Centennial Methodist church where his membership remained until his death. He was a Mason and an Odd Fellow in the local lodges.

During his long illness he never complained nor caused any more trouble than was necessary. He was easily pleased and was appreciative of all that was done for him. He was a friend to everyone and had a great many visitors and friends who called while he was ill. He was an honest and highly respected citizen.

Four brothers and two sisters survive: Ernest and Jay, Halstead, Ray of Kinsley, Roy of Newton, Mrs. F. O. Robuck of Halstead and Mrs. Jesse Oswalt of Hutchinson.
