Lindley, Hazel

History

At the age of eleven years hazel came to Newton with her parents, she graduated from the Newton high School in 1910 and began teaching the following year. She did advance work in summer schools at the Kansas State Normal in Emporia and at the Chicago University. With the exception of two years she had taught continuously since graduation most of the the time in the Newton city schools.

She married Frank Lindley on June 4, 1917. Frank was on the Newton High School faculty, and was the basketball coach for a number of years. Lindley Hall at the old High School (now Santa Fe Middle School) is named for him.
