EL DORADO -- Martha R. Balzer, 87, died Wednesday (March 16, 2005) at Beverly Health and Rehabilitation in El Dorado.
She was born March 14, 1918, to Ernest and Justina (Bergen) Mosiman in Fowler. They preceded her in death. She married Frank E. Balzer Oct. 8, 1940, at Missionary Church in Elbing. He preceded her in death Feb. 22, 1985.
She was a member of Newton Bible Church in Newton. She will be remembered as a wonderful, loving person who was very giving. She worked in many local restaurants as a cook and waitress. She managed the Play-Mor restaurant for several years. In her earlier years, Martha enjoyed traveling at motels. She looked forward to Skip-bo matches with her friends at the Mid-Town Towers and her great-grandchildren.
Survivors include: two sons, Keith Balzer of El Dorado and Gerald Balzer of Omaha, Neb.; a sister, Maxine Motter Unruh of Newton; seven grandchildren, four step-grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was Wednesday at Newton Bible Church with Pastors Don Myers and Ted Veer officiating.
Burial was in Restlawn Gardens of Memory.
emorials have been established with Newton Bible Church and Hospice Care of Kansas, both in care of the funeral home.
