Obituary

Verda Lee Johnson, 71, Halstead, died Saturday, November 13, 1999 at her residence. She was born July 21, 1928 at Burrton, daughter of Ed F. Regier and Helen Dalke Regier Ratzlaff. A lifetime resident of Halstead, she had been a secretary for Unified School Dist #440 before retiring. She was a member of First Mennonite Church, Helianthos Jrs., Halstead Hospital Auxiliary, and 76er's Quilting Group, all of Halstead. She married Bertrand Errol "Zeke" at Halstead August 10. 1947. He survives. Other survivors, three daughters, Pam Doyle, Holton; Jan Higdon, Lees Summit, Missouri and Debbie Reed, Denver, Colorado; sister, Evelyn Adler, Newton and six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Wilbert Regier and Edwin Regier. Committal service was held Tuesday at 10 a.m. November 16, in the Halstead Cemetery. Memorial service was be held at 10:45 a.m. at First Mennonite Church, Halstead, with Pastor Cleo Koop presiding.
