Mrs. Mildred E. (Adolph) Smith, 61, 1001 North High, died at Axtell Christian Hospital on August 11, 1975. She was born March 22, 1914 in Oklahoma, the daughter of Henry and Elizabeth Scheffler Arf. She had lived in Newton most of her life.

She married Adolph E. Smith on June 6, 1931 in Newton. He died January 2, 1968. Mrs. Smith was a private nurse aide and was a member of Zion Lutheran Church.

Survivors: two sons, Adolph, Hillsboro and Lloyd, Newton; three daughters, Mrs. Wilbur (Bonnie) Vogt and Mrs. David (Janice) Steed, Newton and Mrs. Lynn (Joyce) Steed, Tunas, Missouri; one brother, Lloyd Arf, Newton; two sisters, Mrs. Claude (Linda) Smith and Mrs. Howard (Opal Edna) Akers, both of Newton; five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Gary Dale, May 28, 1966.

Services will be held at the church with Burial in Greenwood Cemetery.
