Smith, Faye Waneta

The Newton Kansan

Mrs. Faye Waneta Smith, 80, formerly of 1319 Main and a resident of the Kansas Christian Home the past year, died Monday evening at Axtell Christian Hospital.

She was born November 2, 1894 at Hesston, daughter of Theo and Minnie Williamson Perkins. She married Floyd C. Smith, June 29, 1927 in Newton. He died September 25, 1953. She was a lifetime resident of Harvey County.

She was the retired co-owner with her husband of Smith Motor Co. at Hesston. She was a member of the Potwin Christian Church, Newton Chapter of Order of Eastern Star, past noble grand of Esther Rebekah Lodge, past president of the Ladies Auxiliary Patriarchs Militant, and a member of the Past Noble Grand Club, all in Newton, and past matriarch of the Peabody Ladies Encampment Auxillary.

Survivors: one brother, C. C. Perkins, Long Beach, California; and one sister, Mrs. Ralph B. (Edythe) Lyon, Newton. She was preceded in death by one brother, G. G. Perkins, and two sisters, Mrs. Gladys Wenger and Mrs. Ella Westerman.

Services will be conducted Thursday at Draper-Cannon Funeral Chaple. Burial will be in the Hesston Cemetery.
