Daniel Samuel Hixson was born at Lexington, Ohio February 20, 1856 and died at his home in Bentley, Kansas on November 16, 1905. Cause of death was dropsy.

Mr. Hixson enlisted in Company A 48th Regiment O.V.I. on September 11, 1861 and served 18 months in the Civil War.

He married Rachel Jane Smith on December 3, 1863 of New Lexington, Ohio. To this union were born three sons and four daughters, all of whom survive him, except his son, Clinton. He embraced the Christian religion in 1893 and has endeavored to live close to his Master.

Funeral services were conductetd at the Pleasant Valley Church Saturday afternoon by Rev. Eldred, after which the remains were laid to rest with GAR honors at Hillside Cemetery, Sedgwick, Kansas.
