Roper, Eula Dell

Halstead Independent

Eula Dell Roper, 100, former Halstead resident, died May 6, 1993 at Memorial Home, Moundridge. Born April 24, 1893 at Bowling Green, Kentucky, she was the daughter of William H. and Fanny Hunt. A Halstead resident since 1899, moving to Moundridge in December 1991, she taught school at rural school Dist #34 southwest of Halsteaad before her marriage.
In addition to being a homemaker, she worked as a bookkeeper when she and her husband owned a car agency in Halstead. She was a 50 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, the Legion Auxiliary, the Historical Society; the Ruth Circle at First United Methodist Church and the Extension Homemakers Unit, all at Halstead; the Royal Neighbors and the American Association of Retired Persons.

On August 5, 1915 at Valley Center, she married Christian Roper, ,Jr. He preceded her in death on July 26, 1988. Survivors: two sons, Bob Roper, Salina and Jim Roper, Kaufman, Texas; one sister, Zelma Rupp, Denver, Colorado; and two grandchildren. She was preeded in death by her parents, a brother, Sterling Hunt and a sister, Olion Elliott.

Graveside services were held Tuesday, May 11 in the Halstead Cemetery.
