Maurice Edward Berger

Maurice Edward Berger, 88, a lifelong resident of rural Halstead, died Saturday, June 1, 2002 at Halstead Hospital.
He was born August 23, 1913 at Halstead, the son of Henry P. and Katherine Gilligan Berger. He was a 1932 graduate of Halstead High School. He was a retired farmer. He was a trustee for Halstead Township for over 30 years and a member of Masonic Lodge.

He married Marjorie Jeanne Wendling July 31, 1943 at
Halstead. She died February 22, 1999.

Survivors: two sons: Edward and Carol Berger, Hutchinson and Rodney and Judy Berger, Halstead; three sisters, Jean Adrian, Hutchinson; Hazel Rupe, Arlington, Texas; and Christine Griffith, Salina; two grandsons and his faithful dog Sammy.

The funeral service was held Tuesday morning, June 4, at Kaufman Funeral Home with burial following in the Halstead Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Hutchinson Community Endowment Association in care of the funeral home.
